Third Person Singular
In English, verbs that end with an extra “-s” are called third person singular.
The third person refers to people or things we talk about.
"Singular" means "one"
Here are some examples.
- My dad is a doctor.
- He works at a hospital.
- My sister is a farmer.
- She has a farm.
- My city is nice.
- It has many parks.
For negative statements, the words “does not” and “doesn’t” go before the verb.
- My dad does not watch TV.
- My sister doesn’t like sports.
The word “does ” not the word “do” is used in questions.
- Where does your friend live?
She lives in France. - Does your friend speak French?
Yes, she does.
No, she does not.
