Hi, my name is Todd.
I’m an English teacher in Japan, the creator of ELLLO.org, and your listening coach for this course.

This course is about improving your English through listening.

We also work on:

• Grammar
• Fluency
• Pronunciation
• Speaking
• Some vocabulary

But listening comes first.

How the course is organized

• 5 units
• 5 grammar topics
• Each unit has 4 conversations
• Each conversation has 5 short lessons

That means:

• 100 short lessons
• Plus bonus activities

Most lessons are short and easy — but very effective.

Training, not studying

This is not a study course.
Studying helps a little.
Training helps a lot.

Think of this course like a gym:

• Each activity trains a different skill
• Listening, grammar, pronunciation, speaking
• Do the exercises → your English improves

Most activities are not difficult, but they help you:

• Build good habits
• Notice real English
• Improve naturally

Important rules

• This is a listening-based course
• Almost every activity includes listening
• There is very little reading

I say this a lot:

👉 Reading is cheating

Reading gives you extra help.
Listening is how language is learned naturally.

Also:

• No silent study
• Always study with sound

How to use the course

Don’t watch all the study guides at once.

Instead:

1. Watch one study guide
2. Go down and do one lesson
3. Move on step by step

Listening → Grammar → Pronunciation → Speaking → Real-world listening

Homework & feedback 🎤

Each unit includes spoken homework.

• You submit 1–2 minutes of audio
• I listen to your English
• I send you personal feedback by video
• I tell you your CEFR level (A2 / B1 / B2)
• I give feedback on:
  • Pronunciation
  • Fluency
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar

There are 5 homework assignments total.
